Youth New Years Eve Dance, A Brand New Year: 2010 Youth Celebration on Dec 31, 20098:30pm – 12:30am
8:30pm – it is strongly encouraged that all youth and youth leaders are on time.
• President Grayson and a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will deliver a brief message
• A Brand New Year: 2010 Youth Celebration, introduce the annual Mutual theme: The 2010 Mutual theme is “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9).
9:00pm – 12:00 midnight
• Dance & Games
• Watch the ball drop
• 12 midnight to 12:30am – yummy breakfast
• Youth can wear their appropriate PJs

Personal Progress Starter Activities

If this is you, "GAHHHH!!! I have to get PP done, and like, I have no idea where to start!!! HELP!!"
Well, I'm here to tell you that you're in luck. There's several you can get done in only 10 or 15 minutes! Most of these require you to read a couple scriptures and write in your journal about what you learned or share what you learned with a parent or YW leader. These will help you get a head start to earning your YW Medallion!! You can do it!!

Bottom Layer:
-1 stick butter

Priest/Laurel Activity!

We are quickly approaching our annual Priest/Laurel activity! We are excited to announce that this year’s activity will be a canoeing trip at Grimes Canoe Base in Linden.

Date : August 1, 2009
Activity : Priests and Laurels; Grimes Canoe Base; 5 hours; 7 mile canoeing trip

Meeting Locations:
1. Carton, Winsted Hill, Thompson's Station youth and leaders will meet at 7am at the Franklin stake center.

9:30 am Arrive at Grimes Canoe Base and eat a light breakfast
9:45 am Off to the river
10:00am Start canoeing
12:00pm Light snacks
3:00pm-3:30pm Arrive back at Grime Canoe Base
3:45pm-4:30pm Late Lunch
6:00pm Arrive back at meeting locations

What to Bring
Sun Screen

Family Week: What?

The week of June 28th through July 4th has been designated as Stake Family Week.
The Stake Presidency wants to dedicate a week when interruptions to family activities and events and distractions like TV, the internet, electronic gaming stuff, etc, are minimized.

Things to do in general:
Nature: hike, camp, or work together in your garden
Service: take dinner to a neighbor, participate in community service activities, help with fund-raising drives, or help a neighbor with their yard work
Spritiual: read scriptures and pray together
Social: go out for ice cream, go on a picnic, have parties with family and friends
Sports: attend a sports event, play backyard games, roller skate, ride bikes, fish, boat, or dance
Work: clean and maintain your home and yard, prepare meals, paint a room, plant a tree
Learn: visit historic sites, museums, zoos, or library

Remember, Family Week provides an excellent opportunity to coordinate Personal Progress activities. Many of the Value Experiences and Projects involve parents or the entire family.
You can get a TON of Personal Progress DONE! Just check out your Personal Progress book and get started! :D

June 25th Mutual Clarification

Hello beautiful YW & Leaders,
Just popping in to clarify our Thursday night Mutual activity 6/25- I heard it from the bishop just yesterday that he wants us all to attend the Court of Honor at 7:00- and afterwards we will enjoy a special guest speaker, Sister Morrison, as she speaks to us about effective communication with our parents.
So- if you heard that the fireside was cancelled- IT IS NOT- we will just piggy back the fireside on top of the Court of Honor….so we’ll see you all tomorrow night!

What to Bring to Youth Conference

*Sleeping bag and pillow
--we are not sure who will have beds and who will be on the floor.
*Toiletries
*Clothes (no, really??)
Friday clothes:
Boys--polo or button down shirts and pants below the knee
Girls--blouses, nice tops and pants below the knee.
Saturday clothes:
We will provide a special T-shirt
Boys and girls: pants below the knee
No sloppy jeans and no T-shirts except what we provide on Saturday

iPods and all cellphones are not to be used during activities
--if there are any problems we keep them until conference is over.

Youth Conference Schedule

Youth Conference this year will be held at the stake center during the day. It will be like a mini EFY. During the night, we'll be sleeping at nearby members' houses with our groups. Some of the host families are in the Thompsons' Station ward, so you might see a familiar face!
If you don’t have a ride, call one of your leaders and we will be happy to arrange transportation for you.

GIRL'S CAMP Need to Know

Individual drivers are NOT allowed to go to Girl's Camp because of limited space for cars at the camp, so we are carpooling.

If you are going to Girl's Camp, you will arrive at the OLD KROGER at 6:30 AM on TUESDAY, JUNE 2nd, with the things that were in the Girl's Camp Supply List in a/some travel bag(s).

We will leave promptly, so arrive promptly.

As a reminder: cell phones and ANY electronic device are NOT allowed at Girl's Camp, so leave them at home before you arrive at the Old Kroger at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Just a Thought

A Thought About Girl's Camp by Sister Dotson

Remembering that our theme this year for Girls Camp is "GPS", well, in 2 Nephi 7:10-11 (this is one of the chapters where Nephi was teaching his people from Isaiah) it says:

10. "Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light?"

In other words, when have you ever followed the prophet and found yourself without direction or guidance... lost? Ummm... never.

11. "Behold all ye that kindle fire, that compass (GPS... set your course) yourselves about with sparks (tiny, little, "wanna-be" lights), walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks which ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand-- ye shall lie down in sorrow." (WHOA!)

So, what the Lord is telling us is that if we refuse to follow the Gospel and the prophet's counsel and choose, instead, to do our own thing and make our plans without seeking the Lord's direction, we WILL fail and we WILL regret it... and that's all there is to it. So, how cool is that?!!! Especially considering what we talked about at our last meeting that too often all we see is a tiny, little "wanna-be" spark of what's really going on, and we don't have the full perspective/or the true light (Christ is the Light of the world, right?) to know what our Heavenly Father can see.

Faith is setting our course in faith... knowing that He always has a plan for us... there is always purpose... we will never regret following Him.

This is a sleep-over, all the men/boys of our house will be kicked out :) and, while you don't have to stay all night if you don't want to, we DO need all YCLs in attendance for at least a few hours. Unfortunately, if you're not there, you won't be able to participate as a guide for all the little sisters in the Faith Walk at Girls Camp. Call me if you have questions 615-599-1019.
